Bengaluru: A 34-year-old woman from Jharkhand was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside her rented accommodation in the city, police said on Tuesday.
The woman, who had been living alone in the house for nearly three years, was discovered in a semi-decomposed state after neighbours raised an alarm over a foul smell emanating from the premises.
Body found after neighbours alert police
According to officials, the incident came to light when residents in the area noticed a strong odour and informed the police. Upon reaching the spot, officers broke open the door and found the woman’s body inside the house.
Preliminary findings suggest that the death may have occurred at least two to three days prior to the discovery.
Victim had quit job last year
Police said the deceased had been working at a private company in Bengaluru but had left her job in March 2025. During the inspection, officials recovered torn papers scattered across the room along with her old company identity card.
