In a concerning incident, former Karnataka Lokayukta and retired Supreme Court judge N Santosh Hegde collapsed on stage while addressing a public event in Bengaluru, triggering panic among attendees.

Incident during public programme

The incident occurred at the Kondajji Basappa Auditorium near Maharani College, where a special programme had been organised by the Scouts and Guides. Justice Hegde, who was the chief guest, was delivering his address when he suddenly lost balance and collapsed mid-speech, leaving the audience shocked.

Organisers and attendees rushed to his aid immediately, ensuring he received prompt attention at the venue before being shifted for medical care.

Sudden health scare raises alarm

The situation became more alarming when Justice Hegde reportedly began vomiting shortly after collapsing. This intensified concern among those present, prompting organisers to act swiftly.

He was rushed to a nearby private hospital for emergency treatment, where doctors conducted initial assessments to stabilise his condition.

Medical evaluation and current condition

According to doctors, his blood sugar levels had dropped significantly, which may have contributed to the episode. There is also a possibility that he suffered a mild heart attack, though this is yet to be confirmed.

For advanced evaluation and treatment, he was later shifted to Manipal Hospital, where a team of specialists is closely monitoring his health. Hospital sources have indicated that his condition is currently stable, with further tests underway.
