Kannada film actor Chandrashekhar passes away

Bengaluru: Veteran Kannada actor Chandrashekhar passed away in the wee hours of Saturday. He breathed his last in Canada. He is survived by his mother, wife and a daughter.

He was aged 63. Reports say that he died due to a heart attack.

Chandrashekar had made his on-screen debut as a child artist, and got into fame as a lead actor in Edakallu Guddadamele, directed by Puttanna Kanagal. The success of the film was such that ‘Edakallu’ became his first name.

After his marriage, Chandrashekhar moved to Canada and started working with the Indian High Commission as a visa officer.

Chandrashekhar made his debut as a director with Poorvapara, which became the first Kannada movie to be screened in Toronto Film Festival. He had played a cameo role in Kannada movie ‘Chakravarthy’ starring Challenging Star Darshan.

He acted in recently released Kannada films 3 Ghante 30 Dina, 30 Seconds and Raju Kannada Medium.
