Karnataka government Introduces New Digital Platform Norm

government

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has introduced a new advertisement policy, enabling social media influencers to promote government ads. The “Karnataka Digital Advertising Guidelines-2024” allow for government advertisements across various digital media platforms.

Influencers can participate in government ads through various formats, including brand ambassadors, sponsored posts, guest blogs, content collaborations, themed campaigns, event promotions, reviews, and hashtag campaigns. This move aims to leverage social media’s vast reach and influence to disseminate government messages effectively.

Influencers are categorised into three groups based on their follower count: Nano (1 lakh to 5 lakh followers), Micro (5 lakh to 10 lakh followers), and Macro (more than 10 lakh followers). This classification system ensures that advertisements reach a targeted audience.

The News Department will work with registered agencies to issue advertisements at rates fixed by the Central Government’s Digital Advertising Policy or independently by the department. This policy marks a significant shift in the government’s approach to advertising, embracing digital media and social influencers to connect with citizens.
