Bengaluru: The State Cabinet on Wednesday September 14 approved the appointment of an additional Registrar for the Karnataka Lokayukta in addition to filling vacancies to ensure a speedy trial of cases by the investigation agency. The decision was made a few weeks after the Karnataka High Court dissolved the state’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and transferred all matters the ACB was investigating into the Lokayukta.
To handle the growing number of cases, the Lokayukta has sought out additional staff. The Lokayukta’s salary will now match that of the Chief Justice of Karnataka, as per the decision made by the Cabinet.
The Cabinet approved a revised estimate of Rs. 862.37 Crore as part of several other decisions, including the completion of the warehouse and the strengthening of infrastructure. The Karnataka State Warehousing Corporation has taken up the project.
