Bengaluru: Health Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar said that the Namma Clinics, which aim to aid thousands of urban poor people, will be inaugurated on Wednesday December 14 at 11.00 am in each of the State’s districts.
The 438 Namma Clinics throughout the State will soon be operational and the remaining ones will be by January 2023, he added.
These clinics are meant to help vulnerable groups in society, particularly those who live in slums, daily wage workers and belong to other economically weaker sections of society. Each Namma Clinic will serve a population of 10,000 to 20,000, said Sudhakar.
Speaking further the Minister said, “Namma clinics will offer 12 types of health services. A medical officer, a nurse, a lab technician, and a Group D employee will be there in each Namma Clinic. Pregnancy, postnatal, neonatal care, childhood and adolescent care, universal immunisation services, family welfare, contraceptives, infectious disease management, care for common and minor diseases, diabetes, blood pressure management, chronic diseases, oral ailments, etc. are among the 12 categories of services. Also, free referrals to other hospitals will be provided for conditions that require tertiary treatment, such as eye examinations, breast and uterine cancer, and others.
All the services are available from Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 4.30 pm. Since these clinics are located in various locations, access to healthcare services will be easy. “It is a matter of pride that more than 100 clinics are being launched at once, a first in history. This will go down as a record,” he added.
