Karnataka to Launch Cauvery Phase 5 Project, Scaling Up Bengaluru’s Water Supply

The Project Includes The Construction Of India's Largest Water Treatment Plant, With A Capacity Of 775 Mld, And A 110 Kilometer Pipeline Connecting Key Reservoirs Across The City.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced that the state government will launch the ambitious Cauvery Phase 5 project on October 16, aimed at increasing water supply to Bengaluru, including its high-elevation areas. Shivakumar, who holds the Water Resources portfolio, highlighted that the project will add water supply for 50 lakh residents, boosting the current 1,500 MLD to accommodate the growing demand.

The project includes the construction of India’s largest water treatment plant, with a capacity of 775 MLD, and a 110-kilometer pipeline connecting key reservoirs across the city. This initiative is expected to alleviate water shortages, particularly during the summer.

Additionally, Shivakumar mentioned extended lighting arrangements for Mysuru during the Dasara festival.
