Karnataka Weather Alerts: Orange and Yellow Alerts Issued

Weather Alerts

Bengaluru: The Meteorological Department has warned of continuous winds of 40 to 50 km/h accompanied by heavy rainfall across various parts of the state on Friday. The department has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for six districts and a ‘Yellow Alert’ for four districts.

An ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued for Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Shivamogga, and Chikkamagaluru districts. A ‘Yellow Alert’ has been declared for Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, and Hassan districts. These districts are likely to experience heavy winds along with torrential rain. The department has stated that other districts may receive normal rainfall.

Coastal areas are expected to experience increased stormy conditions, with wind speeds potentially reaching 35 to 55 km/h. Large waves may be observed at sea. Consequently, fishermen are advised to exercise caution when venturing out, with small boats advised not to operate and all recreational activities along the coast completely suspended due to intensifying waves.

In Bengaluru, the sky is expected to be overcast with a chance of moderate rainfall. Continuous winds are also likely in the city.

The department forecasts that coastal regions may continue to experience winds and heavy rainfall until July 1, while inland areas are expected to receive normal rainfall.

This weather alert underscores the importance of preparedness and caution, especially in districts under orange and yellow alerts, to mitigate potential risks associated with heavy rainfall and strong winds.
