A 20-year-old college student from Kerala has filed a complaint against a realtor alleging sexual assault and attempted rape after a party in Madiwala.

Police said the incident allegedly took place on May 11 within the limits of the Madiwala police station.

Accused allegedly assaulted student after party

According to the complaint, the victim was studying at a reputed private college in Bengaluru and was also working part-time at a momos outlet.

Police said the outlet was owned by two brothers who were reportedly planning to sell the business. The accused, identified as Hyanas, had allegedly assured them that he would help facilitate the sale.

Investigators said the victim, the two shop owners, and the accused had attended a party together. During the gathering, the two brothers allegedly stepped out briefly to bring food, after which the accused allegedly molested the student and attempted to sexually assault her.

Student alleges insensitive police response

The case gained further attention after the victim posted a video on social media alleging that police personnel initially failed to take her complaint seriously.

In the video, she claimed that instead of promptly registering an FIR and arranging a medical examination, officers questioned her character and morality.

The allegations triggered criticism online, with many users demanding more sensitive handling of sexual assault complaints by authorities.

Police deny allegations

Senior police officials have denied the accusations of negligence and stated that efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused, who is reportedly absconding.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings.

The incident has once again sparked conversations around women’s safety, police sensitivity, and the handling of sexual assault complaints in urban centres
