Bengaluru: The State Government has given the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) Rs.163 crores to provide milk powder to school children.
Children will receive half a kilogram of milk powder along with their mid-day meal ration in June and July, according to KMF chairman Balachandra Jarakiholi.
It can be recalled here that the government used to provide milk to all students through the KMF in order to ensure that they did not face a nutritional crisis.
After KMF failed to locate more buyers for the milk given by the farmers, the State Government made this decision. This will allow the federation to transfer funds to its members as soon as possible.
