A major tragedy was averted late Thursday night after a KSRTC bus caught fire near Lulu Mall, just minutes after beginning its journey from Majestic.

Fire breaks out minutes after departure

The bus had left Majestic Bus Stand at around 10:15 PM and was headed towards Shivamogga. At approximately 10:20 PM, as it reached the stretch near Lulu Mall, a fire suddenly broke out in the lower section of the vehicle.

Alert bystanders noticed smoke and flames and quickly informed the driver.

Driver’s swift action saves lives

Acting immediately, the driver brought the bus to a halt and ensured all passengers evacuated safely. Within moments of the evacuation, the fire spread rapidly, engulfing the vehicle and leading to a flare-up resembling a minor explosion.

The timely response prevented what could have been a serious disaster.

The incident caused heavy traffic congestion on the busy road between Majestic and Lulu Mall. Vehicles were stranded for some time as authorities worked to manage the situation and clear the area.
