Bengaluru: A circular issued by the Karnataka government mandating government and private hospitals to set aside a certain number of beds for Covid – 19, SARI, and ILI treatment has been withdrawn.
Hospitals are now required to treat both Covid and non-Covid patients, with no beds set aside for isolation.
According to a circular published by the Commissionerate of Health and Family Welfare Services, the earlier notification declaring certain hospitals as dedicated Covid – 19 hospitals has been withdrawn, as the Covid caseload has drastically decreased.
“The order had earlier mandated only minimum number of isolation beds to be kept for Covid – 19 admissions. In this backdrop, the notification issued by the Commissionerate stands withdrawn with immediate effect,” the circular stated.
Hospitals have also been informed that they must continue to provide both Covid and non-Covid services, and that they cannot deny non-Covid patients treatment or admission.
