Bengaluru: As part of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the State Police destroyed drugs worth Rs.60 Crore on Sunday June 26. The total quantity of drugs destroyed is 60 tonnes.
According to the authorities, drug worth over Rs.110 Crore has been destroyed across the State in the last two years.
“Last year, around 24 tonnes of drugs were destroyed. This year, the quantity destroyed has almost tripled,” informed the police.
The highest quantity of drugs was destroyed in Bengaluru with the police destroying 4.3 tonnes of drugs, mainly ganja. The total worth of the drugs destroyed in the city is Rs.41.9 Crore.
Authorities informed that District-level Drug Disposal Committees were formed to take up this exercise.
