Bengaluru: The Cubbon Park Traffic Police have seized a luxury Lamborghini following a reckless drifting incident at the busy Anil Kumble Circle, intensifying the investigation into the viral stunt that sparked public outrage.
Police are now probing whether Ricky Rai, son of late underworld figure-turned-philanthropist Muthappa Rai, was behind the wheel during the dangerous manoeuvres.
Car traced and seized from residence
The police action follows multiple complaints and viral videos showing a white Lamborghini performing risky stunts, including “donuts”, on a public road in the heart of Bengaluru.
Acting swiftly on leads, a police team traced the vehicle—bearing registration number KA 05 NR 0009—to a residence in Sadashivnagar. The car was seized from the premises on Sunday as part of the ongoing probe.
A senior traffic police officer confirmed that a formal notice has been issued to Ricky Rai, asking him to appear for questioning.
Driver identity yet to be confirmed
While suspicion has fallen on Rai, police clarified that the identity of the person driving the vehicle at the time of the incident has not yet been conclusively established.
“We have seized the car and issued notice. We are verifying who was operating the vehicle during the stunt,” the officer said.
Authorities are currently analysing video footage and gathering digital evidence to determine responsibility.
RTO verification underway
To confirm ownership and legal documentation, the police have also approached the Regional Transport Office (RTO). Officials are verifying registration details and ownership records linked to the vehicle.
