Bengaluru; Ministry of Civil Aviation Joint Secretary Amber Dubey on Saturday March 12 said that the main intent behind liberalising the drone policy in India was to make it a global drone hub.

He was speaking at an international virtual conference on the ‘Future of Aerospace & Aviation (FoAA)’, which hosted by the Executive Education Programmes Office of IIM, Bengaluru. “The drone policy is so liberal that the entire focus should be on research and development. We have seen to it that in every sector the drones can be used. It will play an important role in war too. Hence, we have come up with a liberalised policy on drones,” he said.

He added that since the earlier policy the government came up with was restrictive, and after we wrote to the government, it responded with new excellent policy.
