Bengaluru: Linking Aadhar number to auto rickshaw permit will be mandatory according to state transport department.
After receiving several complaints from public and persistent requests from several auto unions, the department has decided to implement the rule to prevent misuse of valid permits, said Dayananda, Commissioner for Transport and Road Safety.
There are Rs 1.25 Lakh autos plying on the city roads with valid permits but transport officials feel the number exceeds by 30,000. Certain drivers drive multiple autos using single permit resulting in misuse, he added.
The department will cancel the auto permits not linked to Aadhar, if the linking process is not completed by January, transport commissioner warned.
