Bengaluru: The Central Committee for Kalasa-Banduri Agitation and People’s Forum for Kalasa-Banduri project has decided to intensify their agitation and have decided to boycott political campaigns for the coming polls. They are also planning to take up the issue in New Delhi by launching a ‘Delhi Chalo’ agitation.

Addressing presspersons here on Sunday, Vijay Kulkarni, president of the central committee, said that a delegation of leaders will leave for New Delhi on November 19 and stage a protest at the Jantar Mantar on November 21, the demanding intervention of the Centre and the Maharashtra government to resolve the dispute between Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra. “We will stage a protest when yatras enter north Karnataka,” he added.

The BJP is taking out a Parivartana Yatra while the Karnataka Vikasa Yatra is being taken out by Janata Dal (Secular) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy. “Lack of political will is the reason for not implementing the project even after three decades of its planning. The project by the State government is to improve drinking water supply to Belagavi, Dharwad and Gadag districts by diverting 7.56 tmcft of water from the Mahadayi River, which flows into Goa from Karnataka,” he added.
