A man has been arrested in Bengaluru’s Indiranagar area for allegedly harassing and assaulting a young woman from Kerala, with the disturbing incident captured on CCTV cameras.
According to reports, the accused allegedly verbally abused and physically attacked the woman at a paying guest (PG) accommodation, triggering concern about safety for women living away from home in the city.
CCTV footage leads to arrest
The incident came to light after CCTV footage of the confrontation surfaced, showing the man harassing the woman and behaving aggressively toward her inside the premises.
Based on the footage and the woman’s complaint, police quickly identified the suspect and took him into custody. Authorities have registered a case and launched further investigation into the incident.
Officials stated that swift action was taken after the video evidence helped confirm the details of the complaint.
Safety concerns for women in cities
The case has once again raised concerns about women’s safety in metropolitan areas, particularly for students and working professionals who stay in hostels or paying guest accommodations.
Many young women from different states, including Kerala, move to Bengaluru for education and employment opportunities. Incidents such as this highlight the importance of strong security measures and prompt police response to ensure their safety.
Police officials have assured that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in harassment or assault.
Authorities have also urged residents and PG operators to install CCTV cameras and report suspicious behaviour immediately, helping law enforcement respond quickly to such incidents.
