Relentless pre-monsoon rains in Bengaluru turned deadly yet again after a 35-year-old man was electrocuted amid waterlogged conditions in JP Nagar.

Electrocution near Mini Forest

The victim, identified as Raghu, reportedly came into contact with an electric pole near Mini Forest at 15th Cross during the heavy downpour.

According to police, prima facie findings suggest electrocution, likely caused by live current in the area during the rains.

Case registered, probe underway

Authorities have registered a case against multiple agencies, including the Greater Bengaluru Authority, BESCOM, and BMTC.

Officials from the electricity department visited the spot, while JP Nagar Police have launched a detailed investigation.

Part of a wider rain disaster

The electrocution comes amid widespread devastation caused by heavy rains across the city. In a major incident, seven people, including children, died after a compound wall collapsed near Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital.

Siddaramaiah visited the site and confirmed the fatalities.

Hazardous conditions across city

Police said the incident occurred in the midst of severe waterlogging and unsafe conditions. Locals alleged that exposed or electrified infrastructure during rains poses a recurring threat to public safety.

More rain forecast

The India Meteorological Department has forecast continued rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and winds of up to 50 kmph over the next few days.

Several districts across Karnataka are also expected to witness intensified pre-monsoon activity.

Concerns over preparedness

The latest incidents have intensified criticism over urban infrastructure and emergency preparedness in Bengaluru, with repeated calls for better drainage systems and electrical safety measures.

Authorities said investigations are ongoing as the city continues to cope with the impact of extreme weather
