Microsoft 365 Outage Causes Chaos at Bengaluru Airport
Bengaluru: Today, Bengaluru airport witnessed significant disruptions as airlines such as Indigo, Air Akasa, and Spice Jet resorted to manual issuance of boarding passes, leading to extensive delays at both T1 and T2 terminals. Passengers shared images of long queues, highlighting the operational challenges faced by the airlines.
Adding a humorous twist to the situation, a frustrated user tagged IndiGo Airlines on social media, jokingly stating, “I’m unable to web check-in, the kiosks are not working, and it’s a big mess at Bengaluru airport. The queue is stretching all the way to Hyderabad for a flight to Hyderabad.”
Another user, Suhasa, vented on X, mentioning, “Server down and queues are growing at @IndiGo6E in Bengaluru Airport.”
However, airlines affected by the disruption clarified that the chaos stemmed from a global Microsoft 365 outage. In a statement on X, IndiGo acknowledged the issue, saying, “Our systems are currently impacted by a Microsoft outage, affecting booking, check-in, boarding pass access, and some flights. We appreciate your patience.”
Globally, Windows 10 users faced widespread outages reportedly caused by a new Crowdstrike update. This resulted in PCs getting stuck on the recovery screen, displaying a blue screen error. Users shared images on social media showing the recovery page message, “It looks like Windows didn’t load correctly.”
At present, the problem appears confined to systems integrated with the Windows operating system.
