A Bengaluru-based employee of Microsoft has gone viral on social media after sharing why she continues to feel enthusiastic about going to work even after spending more than five years at the technology giant.

Deepika Koul posted a video documenting snippets from her daily life at Microsoft’s Bengaluru office, offering followers a glimpse into the workplace environment she says has made her professional journey both rewarding and fulfilling.

In the caption accompanying the video, Koul wrote: “This is what 5 years at Microsoft actually feels like.”

Excitement remains unchanged after five years

Reflecting on her experience, Koul said her excitement about heading to the office has remained remarkably consistent despite walking into the same workplace for more than half a decade.

“It has been more than five years and I have been walking into the same office and I still get excited to walk in. Strange, right?” she said in the video.

According to Koul, the feeling is driven less by the company’s global reputation and more by the culture and interactions that take place within the organisation.

‘People who push you to grow’

Koul described the workplace as a space that encourages collaboration, learning and personal growth.

“It’s not because of the name on the building but because of what happens inside it. Real conversations, honest brainstorming, people who push you, not to compete but to grow,” she said.

She added that the office environment often helps her gain clarity and perspective, especially during challenging days.

“Every time I walk in with a cloudy head, I walk out clearer. How cool is that? Every time I walk in low, I walk out lighter. That’s not a company perk, that’s a culture,” she said.

More than professional growth

Concluding her message, Koul highlighted the importance of appreciating workplaces that positively impact both professional development and personal well-being.

“If you have a place that makes you better just by showing up, don’t take it for granted. I know I don’t,” she said.

Her reflections resonated with many social media users, sparking discussions about workplace culture, employee satisfaction and the role supportive environments play in long-term career fulfilment
