Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday said that alleged sex scandal of former minister H Y Meti, who resigned today, was handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Speaking with media persons, the chief minister said that he had ordered a CID prove into the scandal to know the truth. “Meti has described the CD issue as conspiracy. Meti has denied all allegations but resigned on his own after the release of the CD. I have recommended the Governor to accept the resignation,’’ the chief minister said. He said that he had no prior information about the CD and yet to see it.
Earlier speaking with media persons, Meti said, “I am resigning so that the Government doesn’t face any problem. I have done nothing wrong, let the inquiry commence.” The incident had caused a huge furore leading CM Siddaramaiah to discuss the issue with the police on Monday. Reports suggest that the chief minister asked state intelligence to thoroughly investigate the case and report to him if such a CD really existed.
Meanwhile, Meti has consistently denied being involved in any indecent act. He said the entire episode was a political conspiracy to malign him. While ministers like Kagodu Thimmappa, Basavaraj Rayareddy and KJ George came out in strong defence of Meti, CM Siddaramaiah had warned of strict action if such a CD existed.
