Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman delivered a sensational debut performance for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), spearheading them to a convincing six-wicket victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season opener in Chennai.
CSK’s collective effort, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad in his debut as captain, thrilled the packed Chepauk stadium. Mustafizur’s exceptional bowling display, claiming four wickets for 28 runs, restricted RCB to 173 for six, despite a resilient 95-run partnership between Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik.
In response, CSK’s top-order batters made solid starts but were unable to convert them into big scores. However, Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube showcased superb finishing skills to secure the win for the hosts. CSK maintained their unbeaten record against RCB at home since 2008.
Mustafizur’s remarkable spell, coupled with an impressive rear-guard action from Rawat, played a pivotal role in the match. Rawat’s aggressive innings, supported by crucial contributions from Jadeja and Dube, ensured CSK’s successful chase.
