Bengaluru: On Thursday August 26, Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra slammed the Congress party, saying that the Mysuru gang-rape incident should not be politicised.
He was responding to claims made by the Congress that the BJP protects rapists and is anti-women. “The BJP government has sheltered one of the previous ministers who was accused of raping a woman. The BJP is anti-women and promotes rapists. There have been no arrests after 24 hours. Furthermore, neither the home minister nor the leaders of the BJP have met the victim. This demonstrates their careless attitude. The BJP has determined to put the ‘UP model’ into practise in the State,” the Congress remarked on Twitter.
Araga told reporters, “The gang rape in Mysuru is a serious incident. It’s not right to make it a political issue.” Were there no events like these throughout the Congress’s rule? Because the BJP is in power, they are blaming the government.”
“Officials from the Police Department are already on the case and a FIR has been lodged.
“In this case, a FIR has been lodged. Officials from the Police Department are already on the case. The case has received a lot of attention. I’m flying to Mysuru tonight evening and will speak with police officers the next day. The victim is being treated in a hospital right now. Pratap Reddy, a senior Bangalore official, has been sent to Mysuru. Action is being done to arrest the accused,” he added.
