Bengaluru: On February 28, National Science Day will be celebrated uniquely as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is poised to administer an oath to thousands of students, urging them to foster a scientific temperament. This groundbreaking event will take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium and is expected to draw participation from a significant number of students.

Science and Technology Minister N. S. Boseraju, while announcing the initiative, emphasized the importance of commemorating the “Raman Effect” on this occasion. He highlighted the remarkable contributions of both the country and the state in the field of science, underlining the government’s efforts in establishing Science Centers and Planetariums across all districts.

“In our efforts to cultivate scientific curiosity among students, the government has introduced initiatives such as Science Centers, mobile Planetariums, and the provision of telescopes,” stated Boseraju. The aim, he stressed, is to foster a rational and logical mindset, combat superstitious beliefs, and promote progressiveness in society.

The ceremony will witness Chief Minister Siddaramaiah administering the oath to students, marking a significant step in promoting scientific awareness. Additionally, educational institutions will be encouraged to conduct similar oath-taking ceremonies as part of a nationwide initiative.

Scheduled for 11 AM at the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, the event will be attended by several dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, Chairman of the Legislative Council Basavaraj Horatti, and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly U. T. Khader, among others.
