Bengaluru: : A fresh controversy has emerged over the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), with a candidate from Karnataka alleging significant discrepancies in the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet released by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Bindushree Jagdish Pawar, a NEET aspirant from Haveri, claimed that the OMR sheet published by the NTA does not reflect the answers she marked during the examination.
Candidate alleges mismatch in OMR sheet
Addressing the media, Bindushree said the NTA published what it described as her original OMR sheet on July 16, but it showed that she had attempted only 41 questions.
According to her, she had actually attempted 165 out of the 180 questions in the examination.
She further claimed that, based on the final answer key, she expected to score 668 marks. However, the released OMR sheet allegedly recorded only 41 attempted questions and showed her score as minus 11.
“There are clearly many loopholes and discrepancies in this OMR sheet. My only request to the government is to give me my original OMR sheet,” Bindushree said.
Family seeks legal remedy
The alleged discrepancy has left the aspirant and her family questioning the evaluation process. They have maintained that the published OMR sheet does not match the responses she marked during the examination.
The family is expected to approach the Karnataka High Court, seeking a review of the OMR sheet and appropriate legal intervention.
NTA yet to issue a response
As of now, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has not issued an official response to Bindushree’s allegations.
The matter has sparked renewed discussion over the transparency of the NEET evaluation process, with many awaiting clarification from the examination authority.
