Bengaluru: Congress has become oblivious to Mahatma Gandhi, Dr B R Ambedkar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and others who were instrumental in getting freedom for the country from the British rule and they remember only Nehru family, according to B S Yeddyurappa, State President, BJP.
Speaking at a function organised to observe Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary in Bengaluru, Yeddyurappa opined that the country would not have had the Kashmir issue if Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was the prime minister. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a modern version of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who is trying to solve post-Independence issues in the country. I am confident of all the issues being solved during the Modi regime,” Yeddyurappa stated.
He said Mahatma Gandhi had advised Congress leaders to dissolve Congress as soon as the country got independence but Congress leaders did not listen to his advice. “Congress is responsible for the problems in the country. They did not heed to the advice of Mahatma Gandhi. Now, the people of this country have decided to dissolve Congress,” he said.
Expressing concern over the state government’s failure in implementing welfare schemes, he said that many welfare schemes were introduced during the BJP regime in the state. “We will introduce social welfare programmes in the state if we come to power with God’s grace. We want to install the statue of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari at Hebbal Lake. I will also take all the measures to popularise Basaveshara’s teachings across the globe,” Yeddyurappa proclaimed.
