Fresh forensic findings have intensified the investigation into the death of six-year-old P Vennela, whose mysterious demise in March shocked Bengaluru.

A histopathology report has revealed internal injuries in the child’s stomach, raising further questions about the circumstances leading to her death. Histopathology involves the microscopic examination of tissues to identify signs of disease or injury.

Father alleges murder

Vennela died on March 24 and was initially brought to Vaidehi Hospital by her mother Priyanka and her live-in partner Mohan. Priyanka had claimed that the child may have died after sleeping inside their multiutility vehicle (MUV) with the windows rolled up.

However, Vennela’s father Praveen, who is estranged from Priyanka, alleged that his daughter was kicked in the stomach and smothered to death. On June 4, he filed a fresh complaint accusing Priyanka and Mohan of murdering the child as she had become an obstacle in their relationship.

Forensic tests underway

Police have arrested Mohan on murder charges and placed him in 10-day custody, while Priyanka remains absconding.

Investigators have now subjected the MUV to a luminol test, a forensic procedure capable of detecting traces of blood even after significant dilution. If blood evidence is found, DNA analysis will be conducted to identify its source.

Police recreating final movements

According to police, Priyanka, Mohan and Vennela travelled across Bengaluru, Hoskote and Kolar on the day of the incident. CCTV footage from their residential villa, eateries and other locations visited during the trip has been collected.

Investigators are recreating the family’s movements to establish a clearer timeline and determine whether the child’s death was accidental or the result of foul play.

The investigation remains ongoing, with forensic reports expected to play a crucial role in uncovering the truth behind the tragic death.
