Bengaluru: A nurse wanted by the Vidhana Soudha police, in connection with a forgery and cheating case, for the last nine years has been arrested at the Delhi airport.

The arrested nurse is identified as Sheela Joseph (40), a native of Ernakulam in Kerala.

“She has been absconding for nine years. On November 6, when she arrived at the New Delhi international airport to travel to Tel Aviv, she was detained and handed over to the Vidhan Soudha police, who have been looking for her over a fake marks card complaint,” said police sources in Bengaluru.

“Sheela tried to travel to Italy by furnishing false educational certificates prepared in the name of the State Nursing Council. The Council registrar lodged a complaint against her in the year 2009. But, Sheela is arguing that the documents were given to her by an agent named Benni Joseph and that she was not even aware of a case against her,” said police sources.
