Krushna Chandra Patra visited key facilities of the Indian Space Research Organisation in Bengaluru on Wednesday to explore greater collaboration in space technology, disaster management, and scientific education.

The minister toured the U R Rao Satellite Centre and the ISRO Satellite Integration and Test Establishment (ISITE).

Discussions on satellite technology and governance

During the visit, Patra held discussions with senior ISRO scientists and officials regarding the use of satellite data in governance and development planning.

The talks focused on applications of space technology in disaster management, food security monitoring, and mapping of natural resources in Odisha.

Officials also explored ways to strengthen technological cooperation between the Odisha government and ISRO in areas important to the state’s long-term development.

Minister inspects satellite testing facilities

At ISITE, the minister inspected advanced satellite integration and testing infrastructure, including specialised clean room facilities used for future communication and navigation satellite missions.

ISRO scientists briefed the delegation on the technical processes involved in building and testing India’s upcoming space systems.

Patra also visited the space museum at the U R Rao Satellite Centre, where he viewed exhibits tracing India’s journey from the historic Aryabhata mission to modern space exploration programmes.

Odisha plans science outreach initiatives

The minister expressed Odisha’s interest in developing world-class science exhibitions at the proposed Science City in Bhubaneswar to encourage students towards science, research, and innovation.

Senior officials from Odisha’s Science and Technology Department accompanied the minister during the visit.

Jasvinder Singh Khorala appreciated Odisha’s growing focus on science and innovation initiative
