On day one of the Rs.1,000 fine, 2,788 cases registered in the city

Bengaluru: On Saturday, day 1 of the Rs.1,000 fine for not wearing masks, BBMP registered as many as 2,788 cases in the city. Adding to this BBMP collected a whopping Rs.5.65 lakh in the form of a fine for not wearing masks, and for not maintaining social distance.

“The order on Rs.1,000 fine issued in the afternoon. So, in the morning time, Rs.100, Rs.200, and Rs.300 was collected from the offenders. From Sunday, Rs.1,000 will be collected from each one,” said BBMP authorities.

According to the authorities, Rs. 5.03 lakh fine collected for not wearing masks while Rs. 61,250 for not maintaining social distance.

BBMP commissioner N Manjunath Prasad said that the fine has not imposed to improve the finances, but to create awareness. “We must fight Covid 19 together. Awareness is key for this,” he said.
