One year after the devastating 2025 Pahalgam attack, the pain remains fresh for a Bengaluru family that lost a loved one in the tragedy.

Bharat Bhushan, 41, was killed during the terror attack in Pahalgam in front of his wife and their young son, according to family accounts. More than a year later, the emotional scars continue to shape everyday life.

His wife, Dr Sujatha, said life has changed forever since the incident and the family is still coping with the deep void caused by his death.

Trauma still follows daily life

Dr Sujatha reportedly avoids unknown phone calls and keeps away from social media in an effort to protect her peace of mind. She said the trauma of the incident continues to haunt the family.

She also shared that Bharat had been deeply involved in caring for their son, taking him to parks and spending quality time with him. Rebuilding that rhythm of family life has been difficult, though she continues to stay strong for the child.

Family becomes pillar of support

During the most difficult months, support from parents and in-laws helped the family navigate grief and responsibilities. The family now lives quietly, focusing on healing and raising the child with care and stability.

The tragedy has divided life into a “before” and “after”, reflecting the lasting human cost of terrorism.

Pain beyond headlines

As the nation remembers those who lost their lives in the attack, the Bengaluru family’s story is a reminder that grief does not end when headlines fade.

For many families, recovery is slow, private and deeply personal.
