Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara on Friday clarified that he would contest the 2018 Assembly elections from his home constituency, Koratagere, in Tumakuru district.
Speaking to presspersons, the KPCC chief said he would not leave his home constituency. He had taken up several programmes there in preparation for the polls from Koratagere, where he had lost to P R Sudhakarlal of the JD(S), a political novice, in the 2013 elections. In the process, he also lost the race for the Chief Minister’s post. Former Minister C Chennigappa of the JD(S) had earlier represented the Koratagere constituency three consecutive times, in 1994, 1999, and 2004.
On the proposed Janashirvad rally, Dr. Parameshwara said the rallies would be launched before the next polls. The party has its own model and would not follow the BJP’s model, he said. He was non-committal on actress-turned politician Ramya contesting elections.
