A police patrol motorcycle was allegedly used to provide a commercial Rapido bike-taxi service in Telangana’s Warangal district, triggering an official inquiry after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
The controversy surfaced when a passenger booked a Rapido ride from Ambedkar Junction to Subedari for ₹26. To the passenger’s surprise, the rider reportedly arrived on a police motorcycle bearing registration TS 09 PC 2795, attached to the Enumamula Police Station.
Passenger questions use of police vehicle
According to reports, the passenger questioned the rider about using a government-owned police motorcycle for a commercial bike-taxi service.
The rider allegedly claimed that the motorcycle had been given to him by a friend who was serving as a police constable. The passenger recorded the conversation, and the video soon spread widely across social media, raising concerns over the alleged misuse of government property.
Patrol bike meant for emergency duties
The motorcycle is reportedly one of the Blue Colt patrol vehicles used by Telangana Police for emergency response, crime scene visits and routine patrolling.
Its alleged use for private commercial purposes has sparked criticism and renewed calls for accountability in the handling of government resources.
Police initiate departmental action
Enumamula Circle Inspector J. Suresh confirmed that the motorcycle belongs to the police station and was officially assigned to Sub-Inspector Shankar. The officer further stated that Guvva Siddharth was allegedly using the vehicle to operate Rapido services.
Following the incident, the Circle Inspector reportedly warned the sub-inspector and submitted a report recommending disciplinary action. The report has been forwarded to the Warangal Commissioner of Police for further consideration.
Senior police officials are expected to verify the viral video, examine vehicle records and investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged misuse before deciding on further action.
