Bengaluru: The ruling Congress has won in the Panchayat polls, but the national party has been facing criticism from all quarters for its poor performance in the grassroots level as well as recently held bypolls.
It is said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is likely to visit New Delhi on February 26 to apprise the Congress high command on the poor performance of the party in the recently held by polls to three Assembly constituencies and elections to zilla and taluk panchayats.

The Congress managed to win only one of the three Assembly seats in the byelections. In the panchayat polls, the party secured a majority in only 10 of the total 30 zilla panchayats.

Sources in the State Congress said the chief minister was likely to meet All India Congress Committee general secretary in charge of Karnataka, Digvijaya Singh, in Delhi and discuss the reasons for the party not performing up to the expectations in the polls. The meeting is intended to find the answers for the polls debacle.

Meanwhile, Congress State president G Parameshwara visited New Delhi on Wednesday. However, this visit has been called a private visit by many as there has been no confirmation on Parameshwar meeting any senior party leaders in the national capital.

The chief minister has already said he would conduct the long-pending reshuffle of the Cabinet in April after the budget session of the State Legislature. Pressure has been mounting on Siddaramaiah to drop non-performing ministers from the Cabinet.
