Priest held for sexually assaulting minor girl

Bengaluru: The Indiranagar police have arrested a 54-year-old priest for allegedly sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl.

The police have identified the arrested person as Shivakumar, a resident of Thippasandra. The police said the arrested person was working as a priest of a temple at Thippasandra where he lives with his wife and two children.

According to the police, the alleged incident took place around 6.15 pm on Wednesday. It is alleged that the girl was playing at home when the priest took her to his house on the pretext of offering sweets, and sexually assaulted her. Later in the evening, the girl complained to her mother about the incident.

The woman filed a complaint with Indiranagar police before taking her daughter to a hospital. The Indiranagar police have arrested Shivakumar under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
