Bengaluru: Representatives from the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene, who had threatened to lay siege to Vidhana Soudha five days ago, walked into a meeting with Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday February 18 holding papers with their list of demands.
Their initial demand with the Central Government, was the removal of farm laws in Karnataka. CM Bommai said that they will meet with opposing parties and make a decision after a discussion. Farmers’ leader Kodihalli Chandrashekar said that the government should not be talking to the opposition now because the opposition and their suggestions were not taken into account when the bill was tabled.
Farmers’ leaders questioned why the laws are taking so long to repeal. They met with government representatives during the Belagavi session and were promised that the farm laws would be repealed during the Bengaluru session.
