Bengaluru: A 26-year-old man was brutally hacked to death by unidentified assailants in Belagere near Varthur in east Bengaluru around midnight on Friday, in a case suspected to be linked to a personal dispute.
The deceased has been identified as Dala Ram, a native of Pali district in Rajasthan.
Attack by group of assailants
According to police, the victim was attacked with lethal weapons by a group of individuals who arrived in two cars. The assailants reportedly fled the scene immediately after carrying out the attack, leaving the victim fatally injured.
Members of the public later discovered Ram lying in a pool of blood and alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and shifted the body for post-mortem examination.
Victim had recently arrived in city
Preliminary investigations revealed that Dala Ram had arrived in Bengaluru just a week prior to the incident. He was reportedly staying with a relative in the Belagere area.
Police sources indicated that Ram had travelled to the city from his native place in search of work and had not been in Bengaluru for long before the fatal attack occurred.
Personal dispute suspected
Investigators suspect that the murder may have been triggered by an ongoing family dispute. According to a senior police officer, Ram’s family had been involved in a conflict with relatives following an altercation during a village festival in Rajasthan.
The dispute is believed to have been related to financial issues, and police are examining whether the attack in Bengaluru was a continuation of that rivalry.
Officials are also probing whether the assailants had tracked Ram’s movements after his arrival in the city.
