Bengaluru: With just two more days to go for the Kannada Rajyothsava, the state Kannada and Culture department is reportedly struggling to finalise the Rajyothsava award winners’ list.
According to the sources in the department, this year 63 achievers will receive the awards and insiders in the department say that almost every MLA wants to include one or two persons close to him and thus the department is under immense pressure.
The department has received over 2000 applications this year, out of which only 63 are to be shortlisted. Meanwhile, the majority of the applicants are also said to be using pressure tactics.
“With Chief Minister HDK getting busy in the election campaign, we are finding it tough to give a final shape to the award winners’ list,” a source said.
“Compared to the JDS MLAs, the Congress lawmakers are pressurising us more. As it is the question of survival, everyone is helpless,” he explained.
