Ramnagar:District Superintendent of Police Anupam Agarwal has said that the police department has taken serious cognizance of the single digit lottery menace in the district.
Speaking to reporters at the District Police Bhavan, he said there is no pressure on the department from any corner to shield the accused. He said the police department has formed special teams to crack down the menace. Already cases have been registered against eight persons, he informed.
He dubbed as false some media reports mentioning that the department faced pressure to shield the accused. He said the police department has received stern instructions from the home minister himself to crack down the menace. The police have already arrested four in Kanakapura, he said adding the home minister as well as senior officials have appreciated the swift action.
He also hinted that the department will raid several more places very soon.
