Ramanagara: Farmers who had lost their crops due to continuous wild elephant attacks lost their patience and tried to lay siege to the Forest Department Office in Kodihalli on Friday January 13.

Hundreds of farmers from nearby villages laid siege to the Forest Department office at Kodihalli Hobli Centre in Kanakapura Taluk of the District and staged a protest against the authorities for not taking steps to control the menace. Garalapura, Arakere, Halasuru Plantation, and Bettegowda’s Doddi Villages in Kodihalli limits have been attacked continuously for months. He said the Department was not taking care.

“Farmers who have lost their crops are unable to repay their loans from banks due to non-availability of capital. The authorities will not come to inspect the site of the crop damage caused by wild elephants. It will take years to get the meagre compensation from the department,” he said.
