RCB set to name new captain for IPL 2025, Krunal Pandya emerges as top contender

Rcb Set To Name New Captain For Ipl 2025, Krunal Pandya Emerges As Top Contender

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is preparing to reveal their captain for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. The IPL 2025 mega auction, which took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, saw world-class players being drafted into 10 franchise teams. The highly awaited league will take place in March-April 2025, with the teams gearing up for the competition.

RCB, who impressed by making it to the Playoffs last season, took a bold step by releasing their former captain, Faf Du Plessis, along with star players such as Glenn Maxwell. The franchise, however, opted to retain Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar. This year, RCB has focused on building a team around young Indian talent, choosing to invest less in foreign players during the auction.

While many cricket analysts have speculated that Virat Kohli might return as the captain, social media buzz suggests that RCB is considering a fresh face for the role. Unverified reports indicate that Krunal Pandya, the talented all-rounder, could be handed the captaincy. Acquired for a substantial sum of 5.75 crores, Krunal has shown his leadership qualities by captaining Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in six matches during IPL 2023, winning three of them. With his brother Hardik Pandya already leading Mumbai Indians, Krunal may now be set to take charge of RCB in the 2025 season.
