Bengaluru police have arrested two persons, including a relative of a domestic staff member, in connection with the alleged theft of gold ornaments worth ₹1.13 crore from the residence of Karnataka Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan.

According to police officials, the theft reportedly took place at the minister’s Bengaluru residence, following which an investigation was launched based on a complaint filed by the household.

Relative allegedly used inside access

Investigators said the accused allegedly gained access to the residence through family connections linked to domestic staff working at the house.

Police stated that the suspects are believed to have stolen gold ornaments and valuables before attempting to dispose of or conceal the items.

During the investigation, authorities reportedly recovered a significant portion of the stolen valuables and traced the accused through surveillance and technical evidence.

Two accused arrested

Officials confirmed that two individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the case. Further interrogation is underway to determine whether additional persons were involved in planning or assisting the theft.

Police are also examining the exact timeline of the incident and how the accused managed to bypass security arrangements at the residence.

Security concerns highlighted

The incident has raised concerns regarding insider involvement and security vulnerabilities even at high-profile residences.

Law enforcement experts note that thefts involving known individuals or staff connections are increasingly common in urban property crime cases due to familiarity with household routines and access points.

Authorities have advised residents to strengthen verification processes and maintain tighter monitoring of domestic and support staff access.

Investigation continues

Police officials stated that further investigation is ongoing and additional recoveries may be made in the coming days.

The case has attracted significant public attention because of the high value of the stolen ornaments and the involvement of a prominent political figure’s residence.
