Restrictions on parking and traffic in B’luru on Dec 31

Bengaluru: In the interest of public safety and convenience of those who plan to gather at the city centre for New Year’s Eve, the Bengaluru city police has announced major traffic restrictions and diversions on December 31.

The restrictions include prohibition on vehicle parking on the major roads in the central business district areas and no entries on some major roads and flyovers for a period of time.

There will be restrictions on the use of flyovers from 9 PM on Monday, December 31 to 6 AM on Tuesday. In addition to heavy deployment of police to prevent any law and order situation, 2000 traffic police personnel will also be deployed.

In all, 10000 police constables, 1500 home guards, 1000 from civil defense, 2 battalions of Quick Response Team, 2 water jets, 50 KSRP platoons and 30 platoons of City Armed Reserve will also be deployed. And the force will be supervised by 15 DCPs, 45 ACPs and 220 inspectors under the leadership of the Joint Commissioner of Police.

Further, for the better administration of traffic, the three traffic police divisions in the city will be divided into 44 sectors, and each sector will be supervised by a Traffic Police Inspector.

There will be no vehicular access to Brigade Road from 8 PM on Monday to 2 AM on Tuesday. Church Street and Museum Road will also be closed for vehicular traffic.

The police said that parking will not be allowed on M G Road, Cubbon Road, Residency Road, Richmond Road, Infantry Road, Brigade Road, Church Street, Museum Road, Rest House Road, Kamaraja Road, St. Marks Road, Magrath Road, Commissariat Road and 100 Feet Road in Indiranagar from 4 PM on Monday. The police have also warned that vehicles found parked in the mentioned areas after 4 PM on Monday will be towed away and will only be released after 6 AM on January 1 after payment of the necessary fine.
