In the wake of the tragic fire incident at Rajkot’s TRP Game Zone, where 27 people lost their lives, including four children, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has issued a directive to alert all gaming arcades in Bengaluru. With numerous gaming centres spread across different areas of Bengaluru, officials have been tasked with inspecting the safety measures at these establishments.

Precautionary Measures Urged

DK Shivakumar emphasized the importance of adhering to appropriate safety measures and precautions, particularly in high-traffic entertainment spaces like shopping malls and gaming zones. In a letter addressed to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner, he underscored the need for fail-safe measures to prevent untoward fire disasters and mandated periodic checks to avoid fire mishaps.

Tragedy Strikes Rajkot

The fire tragedy in Rajkot occurred at a game zone on Nana-Mava Road, where witnesses reported that several people, including children, were playing games when the fire broke out. The temporary dome-like structure collapsed, trapping numerous individuals underneath. The incident prompted an investigation by Rajkot police, leading to the detention of the establishment’s owner.

Expressing grief over the loss of lives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured that the local administration was working diligently to provide assistance to those affected by the tragedy. The incident has highlighted the urgent need for stringent safety protocols and measures to be implemented across gaming arcades and similar recreational facilities nationwide.
