Bengaluru: The family of a 12-year-old student has accused a private school in Bengaluru of negligence after the boy collapsed in his classroom and later died, alleging that delays in providing medical assistance contributed to the tragedy.
The deceased has been identified as Arhan Pasha, a student of a private school in Weavers Colony on Bannerghatta Road. Although the incident occurred on June 10, it came to light after the family lodged a complaint with the Konanakunte Police Station, leading to the registration of an FIR on Thursday.
Family alleges teacher ignored student’s complaints
According to the complaint, Arhan had gone to school after lunch and appeared to be in good health. His family said he informed his class teacher that he was feeling unwell and experiencing dizziness.
The parents alleged that instead of receiving immediate attention, the boy was asked to remain quiet and return to his seat.
They claimed that Arhan later collapsed on a classroom bench during school hours.
Delay in informing family questioned
The family further alleged that the school did not inform them immediately and that Arhan remained on the school premises for nearly 45 minutes before they were contacted.
They also claimed that the school management failed to arrange an ambulance or shift the child to a hospital. Instead, family members rushed to the school after receiving the call and transported him to hospital on a two-wheeler.
According to the parents, doctors later informed them that earlier medical intervention might have improved his chances of survival.
Police begin investigation
Konanakunte Police have registered an Unnatural Death Report (UDR) and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As part of the probe, officers have collected CCTV footage from the school and are examining whether there was any negligence in responding to the student’s medical emergency.
Further investigation is underway.
