Bengaluru: The Public Works Department (PWD) has asked the Karnataka Road Development Corporation Ltd. to put the tender on hold, claiming that Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s observations were not taken into account.
The first tender had been cancelled by the government, which claimed that the five-year maintenance cost for the corridors was far higher than the budgeted amount for initial improvements.
CM Bommai also asked a retendering, claiming that the KRDCL had included some recently completed roads in the project needlessly. In January 2022, the KRDCL issued a call for short-term tenders in response to the Chief Minister’s directive.
In a letter to the KRDCL, Additional Chief Secretary, PWD B. H. Anil Kumar stated, “The tenders for 12 high-density corridors will be put on hold immediately.” He has asked that the tender files be reviewed further to determine whether the KRDCL has addressed the Chief Minister’s points.
