Bengaluru: A routine morning cricket game turned into a crime scene after a group of boys discovered a severed human head on a playground in Kodathi, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, on Wednesday. Police have launched a major investigation to identify the victim, trace the remaining body and uncover the circumstances surrounding the gruesome incident.

Boys stumble upon severed head

According to police, the boys had arrived at the ground early in the morning to play cricket when they noticed the severed head lying on the premises. Shocked by the discovery, they immediately informed the police.

A team from Varthur Police Station rushed to the spot and conducted a preliminary inspection. However, no other body parts were found during the initial search.

The discovery sent shockwaves through the neighbourhood, with residents gathering near the ground as police cordoned off the area.

Police suspect head was dumped

Investigators suspect the head was brought to the location and dumped after the murder took place elsewhere.

During the inspection, police found tyre marks believed to have been left by a two-wheeler near the spot. Officers are examining whether a motorcycle was used to transport the severed head to the ground.

Police have also begun reviewing CCTV footage from roads and nearby properties to identify any suspicious movement and reconstruct the sequence of events.

Search on for body and victim’s identity

The identity of the victim remains unknown, and police are working to establish who the deceased is by checking missing persons reports and pursuing other investigative leads.

Authorities are continuing their search for the remaining body while trying to determine the exact location where the murder occurred and the motive behind the crime.

Police said further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
