Bengaluru: Dr. Shaivakumara Swamiji, the seer of Siddanganga Math was air lifted to Chennai on Saturday to undergo treatment for Cholecystitis. Cholecystitis is a condition caused by inflammation of gall bladder.
Several arrangements were made to take the otherwise healthy 111-year-old seer from the Math in Tumakuru to Chennai. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy even stated that the seer’s medical bills would be footed by the state government.
At the Dr. Rela Institute and Medical Centre in Chennai, a team of surgeons led by Dr Mohamed Rela, performed an operation on the seer. The procedure was completed successfully after two gruelling hours.
“The seer needs around 10 weeks of rest. The operation lasted for two hours. He is fine,” said hospital sources.
