Bengaluru: One of the biggest challenges faced by the Congress state unit is the difference of opinion between the senior leaders. This time even though the party is enjoying an advantage over the ruling BJP in the by-election, the party is hit by rebellion.
According to the sources, CM Ibrahim, one of the 40 star campaigners nominated by the party for the campaign has decided to boycott the campaign. He is upset with former CM, Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Siddaramaiah for not giving him a ticket from Shivajinagar. Besides this, he was also denied the post of opposition leader in the state legislative council. “He is on a foreign trip,” said a Congress leader.
According to the Congress leaders, most of the senior leaders have in a way or other remained away from the by-election campaign duty due to the Siddaramaiah factor. Most of them fear that Siddaramaiah may become CM again if the party sweeps the by-elections.
“Kharge is busy with Maharastra politics. DK Shivakumar is using the court cases as the reason for the absence. Veerappa M Moily is not visible at Chikkaballapur itself,” explained a leader.
